Phil Stong, an American author, teacher, journalist and editor, who published more than forty books, was born in 1899 in Pittsburg, Iowa. Stong scored his first success in 1932 with the publication of his novel, STATE FAIR, which was later adapted for the screen as the Rodgers and Hammerstein musical of the same name.
